The Company and Staff

Platinum One Hotels Limited is the parent company of the Captain’s Club Hotel.  Platinum One has four shareholders, two of whom head the Management Team of the Captain’s Club Hotel.

Sarah Ross and Christopher Bradfield

Sarah Ross and her partner Christopher Bradfield are Directors of Sounds Commercial Limited, a highly successful Audio Visual and Conference staging company.  Set up eighteen years ago with their head office in Bristol, the company now has further offices in Cardiff, Swindon, Sheffield and Glasgow. 

Sarah graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in hospitality management and has worked extensively at management level with the Hilton Group.  Sarah is actively involved in the hotel recruitment programme. Robert Wilson – Operations Director and Shareholder

Robert began his hotel career at the age of sixteen by joining the Savoy Group as a management trainee.  He graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management from Middlesex University before taking up various management positions within London and Cambridge.  Robert joined the opening management team at the Five Star Bath Spa Hotel in Bath as Assistant Manager before being promoted to the position of Food and Beverage Manager.  In 1992 Robert became co-proprietor of Splinters Restaurant in Christchurch (Two AA Rosettes/Good Food Guide) where he remained for ten years before selling the business to return to the field of hotels.  During his time at Splinters, Robert also owned and operated Pommery’s Delicatessen and Café Bar in the adjacent premises (now operated by the Fishworks group).  Robert joined the Captains Club Hotel project in 2003, specialising in all aspects of the Hotel’s interior design.

Tim Lloyd – General Manager and Shareholder

Tim graduated from Llandrillo College, North Wales with a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management after originally completing a Chef’s course. Tim joined Forte Hotels as an Assistant Manager. Remaining within the Forte Group, he was quickly promoted to the role of Banqueting/Conference Manager at the Castle Hotel, Windsor, before taking up a Deputy General Manager role in Stratford-upon-Avon. Tim was then appointed to the senior management team to open the Bath Spa Hotel in Bath.  He successfully gained the hotel’s five stars and the election of the Hotel as a member of Leading Hotel of the World within the first year.  After three years as Deputy Manager, Tim moved to Christchurch as co-proprietor of Splinters Restaurant with Robert.

Tim works closely with the business community of Christchurch and held the position of President of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce for the year 2001/2002.  www.christchurchbusiness.co.uk  He is also a founder member of the acclaimed Christchurch Food and Wine Festival, now in its seventh year.  Next year, Tim will chair the festival’s organising committee for the 2007 event.  www.christchurchfoodfest.co.uk   Tim is also a member of the Hotel, Catering and International Management Association.

Andrew Gault - Head Chef

Andrew Gault, formerly Chef at the Burj al Arab in Dubai – regarded as being the only seven star hotel in the world –  is delighted to be moving to Christchurch with his wife Sarah.  “This is a fabulous new venture and I am delighted to be joining the Captain’s Club Hotel right from the start.” says Andrew. “I was involved with the 2001 opening of the St Andrews Bay Golf Resort and Spa as Sous Chef so I am ready for all the challenges and can guide my team accordingly”.

Andrew spent three years at the Burj al Arab.  His career includes four years as Chef de Partie at the world renowned Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland and a year at the K Club in Ireland – host to this years Ryder Cup.
